Plasma Surgery (using Plexr)

Plexr is a world-leading medical plasma device offering a non-surgical alternative to surgical procedures such as blepharoplasty (eyelid correction), face and neck lifts. It is also very useful for skin lesion removal. It is a non-invasive procedure with no cutting or stitches required.

    How it works?

There is device controller which the clinician uses to set the power & frequency settings and then uses a small handheld device with a tiny needle to carry out the procedure.

As the clinician works, the Plexr generates plasma in the tiny space between the device and target skin sublimating the surface of the target skin, leaving the dermis intact. The procedure is also typically with a small pricking movement, done in a dot-like (fractional) pattern over the affected area. This process leaves lot of little carbon crusts on the skin, which fall off in the days after the treatment. The procedure causes minor trauma to the skin, which begins to heal, and new skin is generated by a powerful cascade of bio-remodelling with new collagen and elastin being made. The skin thus becomes architecturally younger and therefore tighter.

    PLEXR + works for:

    • Eyebag/eyelid correction
    • Facelift & necklift (for excess skin)
    • Deep lines e.g. around the mouth, frown, crow’s feet
    • Skin tightening (small areas)
    • Flat or raised skin lesions
    • Mole removal
    • Mark, age spot removal

    Advantages over surgery

        • Local anaesthetic only
        • No cutting of skin
        • No stitches required
        • Minimal side effects and far less downtime
        • Quick & easy procedure
        • No thinning of the skin
        • Significant cost saving

Treatment Process – Plasma Surgery (Using Plexr)

        Initial Consultation

Before any treatment, we will spend 10-15 minutes carrying out a skin condition assessment, using an analyser device, which enables our clinician to understand the health of the skin including, hydration, thickness and any underlying health issues.

        Treatment Plan

Following the consultation, we will prepare a treatment plan which will set out how many sessions you might need and the intervals between the sessions. Each treatment session will normally be around 30-45 minutes and covers the following areas:

        • Eyebag/eyelid correction.
        • Facelift & necklift (for excess skin)
        • Deep lines e.g. around the mouth, frown, crow’s feet
        • Skin tightening (small areas)
        • Flat or raised skin lesions
        • Mole removal
        • Mark, age spot removal

        Pre-treatment advice – Plexr

Do not drink any alcohol during the 24 hours before your treatment. We also advise that you avoid using aspirin or other non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs for a few days before your treatment (unless they are taken for a chronic medical condition). Avoiding these medications will reduce your risk of bruising at the point of injection. Please do not wear make-up on the day of the treatment.

        Treatment Aftercare – Plexr

Aftercare is very important, so make sure you’re doing everything right by discussing it with your clinician:

        • Don’t touch, massage or rub the affected area in any way for at least 48 hours after treatment.
        • Don’t undergo other treatments like microdermabrasion, facials and chemical peels for at least 24 hours after the procedure.

If you require pain medication after treatment, you can take paracetamol, but avoid anti-inflammatory medications, such as ibuprofen and aspirin, as these thin the blood, which can make bruising worse.

It is rare to get any serious side effects following treatment, however possible side-effects include the following:

        • Bruising/swelling/redness at injection site
        • Infection
        • Nausea, headache or flu-like symptoms
        • Occasional numbness
        • Drooping of the eyebrow or upper eyelid or swelling and redness in eyelids

There can be allergic reactions including:

        • Rash and itchiness
        • Visual disturbances
        • Visual loss
        • Photosensitivity
        • Facial swelling
        • Dry mouth
        • Dizziness
        • Anxiety
        • ‘Pins and needles’ sensation
        • Dry skin
        • Antibody formation (substantial deterioration in response)

If you experience any of the above after having the treatment, speak to your clinician or medical practitioner immediately.
